Biliran province, located eastern region of visayas, home of over 16,000 inhabitants and blessed with so much natural wonders yet remain undiscovered and far from the chaos of tourist traffic.
While most of the nature-lovers go to most popular places like Boracay, El Nido and others, it is time that we look for other authentic, fresh and untouched tourist destination.
For waterfalls chasers, here are some spots I visited that you might want to check when you go to Biliran:
1. Kasabangan Falls.
Located at Brgy. Balaquid, Cabucgayan, Biliran; approximately 45-minute to 1-hour drive from the town proper of Naval. Not far away from national road, man-maid rail is set up along the creek to reach the waterfall.
2. Casiawan Falls.
Casiawan Falls a ccording to myth is said to be home to “siaw” fairies. It can be reached approximately 20-minute ride from Cabucgayan town proper, 1 ½ hrs from Naval.
3. Tinago Falls.
The Tinago Waterfall, the most famous falls of Biliran Island located in Brgy. Cabibihan, Caibiran Biliran.
4. Ulan-Ulan Falls.
But I call it Huricane Falls. At the base of this gigantic waterfall several meters away from it you can feel the gust of the wind and raging “rain” it is just amazing you will not leave the place without being struck in awe.
5. Recoletos Falls.
Recoletos waterfalls is located in the wilderness of Brgy. Sampao in Almeria Municipality which is known as the land of waterfalls. It is a 5-minute walk up from the more famous Ulan- Ulan falls. The walk up to this beautiful waterscape is steep and no railings whatsoever so great precaution is advised when you climb up.
There are other more waterfalls in this beautiful island. You bet 1 week visit is not enough if you want to enjoy all of them
