First day in Coron we decided to go to Mt. Tapyas, a 210-meter hike above sea level located in the town of Coron. It’s the second highest place in Coron, where visitors can have a complete view of the town. With 724 steps going to the top seems a bit tiring yet the spectacle above is worth every step.
There are packages offered for a city tour including Mt. Tapyas in the itinerary. But if you are on a tight budget, you can just go there directly without a guide. It is just one tricycle away or if your hotel is close to it you can just go there on foot. No entrance fee.
What is good about DIY is you can stay there as long as you want. I noticed some group who went there with a package tour has to leave early because they are following a schedule I suppose which means they missed the best part of Mt. Tapyas and that is the sunset.
